Job Description

Job Summary: The Senior Accountant role performs complex accounting activities and analysis. This position requires strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and their appropriate application within associated activities. The role’s responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining assigned general ledgers, completing month-end close procedures, and generating timely, accurate financial reports. Effective oversight of the financial control structure will also be a key component of this role. This role will report to the Accounting Manager.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience over transaction processing systems and an exceptional accounting background with a thorough understanding of GAAP and a working knowledge of business process improvement, budgeting, and accounting policies and procedures.
ExperienceandEducation:

• Experience in working with medium to large scale ERP systems (a plus)

• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload

• Ability to work independently and self-motivate in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment

• Experience creating and optimizing financial reports in a timely and accurate fashion

• Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to quantify complex business questions

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Previous experience within a Manufacturing, Distribution Center or Logistics processes and systems (a plus)

• Advanced proficiency in Excel (macros, index, conditional list, arrays, pivots, lookups)

• 5+ years progressively responsible Accounting experience required

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
CommunicationSkills:

• Excellent ability to articulate information both written and verbal
ComputerSkills:

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

• Strong proficiency in Accounting Software/ERP skills; Great Plains and SAP preferred

Primary Responsibilities of the Job:


• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile all assigned general ledger accounts


• Produce accurate and timely accounting reports, including financial statements according to schedule


• Identify errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and accuracy


• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls


• Completion of the Borrowing Base/Covenants reporting per schedule


• Assist with audits and tax matters; includes support during annual financial audit and tax preparation


• Support month-end and year-end close processes


• Provides relevant financial data and any assistance during the budgeting/forecasting process


• Work with global stakeholders to promote consistent handling of financial transactions/activities


• Ensure compliance with GAAP


• Serve as RTT Trainer and ensure all accounting staff are fully trained in each critical function


• Assist in any special duties or projects as identified


• Prepare special reports for management, customers, and others as needed


• Provide general coaching and support to accounting staff as needed
All other duties as assigned
